How to work with me

About Me

I’m a qualified UKCP accredited psychotherapist and I’ve been in private practice for 20 years. I’ve also worked for a variety of organisations in the private, voluntary and public sector including the NHS and in primary schools. I’m committed to personal development in the form of ongoing training in the therapy field, anti-racist education and my own personal therapy. I actively participate in the UK AEDP community, helping to organise their events and seminars, and I am an assistant in AEDP Institute training courses. When I am not spending time with family or working, I enjoy swimming in the Walpole Bay tidal pool, walking my cavapoo pup and singing in a choir.

How I Work

I trained as an integrative psychotherapist which means that I am experienced in combining several different approaches to therapy.

My primary model is AEDP, which I blend with other models according to my client’s needs. If you’d like to work with me the first step is to get in touch. We’ll arrange a free initial phone or Zoom call to make sure I’m the right person for you and for you to ask any questions you might have. From there we can then set up an initial consultation for in-person or online therapy.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and we would usually meet once-weekly, at least until we’ve got off to a good start and established a safe, trusting working relationship. And if we talk and you decide I’m not right for you, or that it’s not the right time for therapy, that’s ok too! Therapy can be hard work and it is important to find someone you connect with. You are welcome to reach out again if things change.

Specialisms

Over the years I have supported people with anxiety, depression, OCD, one-off trauma (e.g. car accident, birth trauma), developmental/ sexual trauma, disordered eating, intrusive thoughts, family and relationship problems and many other issues. No problem is too big or small to benefit from therapeutic help.

I work with adults, young people, children and families. I don’t work with couples but I can refer you to some great couples therapists if that is what you are looking for.

Office

I work from a cosy quiet office in a beautifully restored Georgian building in central Margate. There is plentiful (pay) on-street parking and it is close to bus stops and within walking distance of the train station. My office is on the 2nd floor so if you have any mobility issues you may prefer to meet with me online.

Online

You can work with me online via Zoom, or a hybrid of online and in-person sessions if, for example, you travel frequently.

Availability

I generally work term-times only and offer sessions between 9am and 4pm. I’m afraid I don’t have evening or weekend appointments, but I can link you up with colleagues who do.

Fees

My fee for individual therapy (50 minutes) is £75.

My fees are in line with other senior psychotherapists with similar education, training and experience.

I realise that quality therapy can be a big expense and I strongly believe that therapy should be accessible to everyone. If my fee is beyond your financial means, please reach out as I do set aside a portion of my practice for those in need of lower fee slots. I also work with colleagues who have more fee flexibility. Limited spaces are available for short-term (12 weeks) low-cost psychotherapy for those who may otherwise not be able to access therapy. Available to Thanet residents only, and please be aware that there may be a waiting list.

If you’d like to connect with me, please fill out this brief form.
